About Us
My Mommas Place helps to facilitate networking and team building for those interested in wasted food recovery in San Diego County. Current collaborations include the South San Diego Food Recovery Network and San Diego Food Systems Alliance (SDFSA). As of 2019 work started on the formation of a Wasted Food Transportation work group for the South San Diego County region.
Our History
In 2013 Karen Clay started looking at the food recovery systems in San Diego County and in 2014 worked with the Founder of Harvest CROPS to incorporated and create business into a nonprofit. She has been an active participant with the SDFSA since 2014. In 2018 she started working with Senior Gleaners of San Diego County and is currently their General Manager. Contributor to 2018 County Food Donation Action plan and 2019 State of the Food System report that is in progress.
My Mission
Assist organizations in building capacity of Wasted Food recovery systems throughout San Diego County. To provide solutions that make a long-lasting difference.
